His Highness Sheikh Saif bin Saeed bin Saif Al Nahyan applauded Play for Life – Football 2014 for playing a crucial part in the UAE's commitment to a healthy lifestyle and presented Takreer with the event's Champions' Trophy on 27 March at Zayed Sports City Stadium.

With 16 teams starting the tournament, Takreer beat seven-time participant Mubadala two goals to one in the final to take the trophy. They secured their place in the final after seeing off Abu Dhabi Sports Council two goals to one 2-1 in the semi. This is the team's second win in the tournament, having taken the 2012 Cup as well.

Meanwhile, in a bumper night, Takreer also produced the Man of the Tournament, Faisal Al Badi. Mubadala's James Hussy was crowned the best goalie. The top goal scorer was SEHA's Ahmed Najeeb who placed 12 goals into the net over the five nights of play. SEHA also carried home the tournament's new trophy, the Play for Life Fair Play Award, measured by the least number of cards, as well as a sterling display of good team spirit.

Play for Life - Football 2014 is part of ICLDC's public health awareness campaign, ‘Diabetes-Knowledge-Action' under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak.
