For the past eight years, Zayed Sports City has been proud to host the ADCD Pink 5&10k Run, and we’ve come to love it more and more with each passing year! If you’ve never participated in this community-oriented run, here are five reasons to register for the 12 October event.

  • It’s for Everyone
Did you notice it is called a run and not a race? This event is for anyone and everyone, from a person who is participating their first run to seasoned runners looking to qualify for major marathons and events. The focus is on getting the community involved and active, while also providing an avenue for people at all levels to excel. Keeping in line with this, those with the fastest anticipated finish times set out at the front of the pack while the rest of the community follows. This includes runners, joggers and walkers, and even little ones being pushed in prams! There is also a junior race that trails right behind the adults, spreading out the event so that everyone participates comfortably and at their own pace. Prizes are awarded in lots of age categories too, but everyone who starts is a winner in their own right.

  • You Can Track Your Progress
Throughout the year, three ADCB 5&10k Runs take place and this is only the first. Since the track is IIAF certified and it is chip timed, between the October, January and March events you will know how your stats are changing. You can receive a printout of your official time right as you finish and keep tabs on the results from all Gulf Multi Sport organised runs through a dedicated website.

  • The Swag
This particular run is notorious for its swag. Every participant gets a race t-shirt and a gift pack that is certain to be stuffed with cool gear. In the past we’ve seen duffle bags, tutus, sunglasses, water bottles and more… we’re staying tuned until the surprise is unveiled for the 2018 edition. Plus, in the activity village there are sponsors, including Daman, giving away lots of goodies for you to snag and a yummy post-race breakfast bag to enjoy.

Ladies, if you register before the end of August, you enter a lucky draw to win one of three gift sets from Runderwear as well!

  • Kids are Catered For
The youngest members of the community can enjoy this event in so many ways. In addition to the opportunity to run the 5k route, this year debuts the Mile for a Smile initiative. Emphasising that participation is the success in and of itself, kids are encouraged to run, walk or jog a mile to reach the finish line. It is literally a step towards a healthy lifestyle. The activity village also has bouncy castles to keep kids moving and entertained, either before or after the run, or while they are waiting for their friends and family to finish.

  • It Makes a Difference
The entire series of runs has a charity element to it, with Al Jalila Foundation as the benefactor of the Pink 5&10k Run. Your participation not only improves your own health, but has an impact on the entire community through support of breast cancer awareness and research.

If these reasons don’t have you convinced, take a leap of faith and join the other 1,500 of us anyway! Always popular, don’t delay in registering for the ADCB Pink 5&10k Run on the morning of 12 October. Secure your space at my.raceresult.com.
