The UAE celebrated National Sports Day on 16 February and Zayed Sports City was the hub of activity in Abu Dhabi, offering more than 20 activities for everyone to try.

As the event started, more than a thousand school children descended on the stadium to try their hand at sports they love or find a new favourite. They participated in fitness workouts, choreographed Zumba sessions, rugby drills, tennis lessons and more.

At the same time, a group of distinguished guests, led by H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Sports Council, marched around the site before entering the stadium to join the action and take photos with the kids. H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan also honoured the children with a visit, touring around the site to see all the events and activities.

By the afternoon, the children had given way to the greater community, who were invited to participate in Spinning, an obstacle race, martial arts courses, chess matches, archery, ladies-only workouts, basketball and even a chance to try out polo! Along with tons more on offer, the event catered to both casual and competitive athletes, giving residents many different sports to experience as part of living a healthier lifestyle.
