Emirates Skating Club has started 2017 on the right foot with lots of brag points only four weeks into the year.

From the first weekend of the month, six members represented the UAE at the FBMA Trophy competition, with Dhiyab Al Darmaki taking second place on the podium in his division, beating out a strong showing of international competitors. Zahra Lari was crowned UAE National Champion for the third year in a row as well. Following this, Zahra, Asel Alibekova and Thea Abou Dewan travelled to Belgrade, Serbia to compete in the Skate Helena ISU competition.

There were several exciting meet and greet opportunities extended in January as well, as Olympic hopeful Zahra was honoured with an invitation to meet HRH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and esteemed figure skater Michelle Kwan.

ESC continues to pick up steam as the year continues, with trips to the Sophia Cup and ISU Asian Winter Games. Plans are also underway for the Skate Emirates competition which the club hosts annually.
