An action-packed final saw the Falcons take the honours in the Zayed Sports City Football Cup tournament last night.

Securing a win in pentaly shots against Denholm Yam saw Falcons take home AED 15,000 in prize money and the coveted ZSC Cup. Runners up Denholm Yam were awarded AED 10,000, whilst the third place prize of AED 5,000 went to Think Different.

The popular annual tournament, which has gained a reputation as being among the best in the city, attracted 12 teams with its trifecta of high quality of play, administration and facilities. Returning squads including Falcons and Salesbury Landscaping faced stiff competition from newcomers including champions Denholm Yam and qualifier Al Fahem.

The wrap up of another successful tournament signified seven years of the showpiece event which attracts hundreds of footballing enthusiasts during to both play and watch.

Tournaments like this are great for encouraging lifelong healthy habits, something that is at the core of our operation.”

The seven-a-side ZSC Football Cup ran from 7 - 30 March. The event welcomed 144 players and provided a unique opportunity for the community to enjoy time with family, friends and live football. It is part of year round football programming on Zayed Sports City’s 17 pitches, including development, training and competition for youth and adults.
