Final preparations are being made for the fourth Desert Open Figure Skating Championship. This year's event has moved out of the summer and will be held 25 and 26 April at Zayed Sports City Ice Rink. Over 100 participants from the Gulf and abroad have registered, including host Abu Dhabi Figure Skating Team, four teams from Dubai, skaters from Al Ain and Sharjah, as well as Qatari and Cyprian teams. The professionalism of the event, which employs independent judges to ensure fair results, complements the high calibre of talent and is attractive to many teams in the region.

Skaters of all levels will showcase their talents in up to three programmes. In the technical programme skaters will be judged for their jumps and spins, while artistic focuses on the musical expression, flow and choreography. Spotlight is judged by how creative and entertaining the skaters are.

The event is free to watch and members of the public are invited to cheer on the skaters from approximately 9:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m each day.
